Course Objectives
This class is designed for the new InDesign user, and for those who are using the program, but feel like they are taking a round-about way to getting the job done. Those of you transitioning to InDesign from Quark and PageMaker will also find this class beneficial. Introduction to InDesign CS5 focuses on the core features of InDesign, including:

Introducing the Workspace
A quick overview of the CS5 interface, including how to create custom workspaces.

Setting a Document and Working with Pages
Create a new document from scratch, with a focus on working with Master Pages and placeholder frames.

Working with Objects
A look at the difference between the Selection and Direct Selection tools, and everything you need to know about InDesign frames, along with placing and sizing graphics.

Flowing Text
Import Word files into InDesign using Manual, Semi- and Auto flow, learn about threaded text frames, and control the formatting through Paragraph Styles.

Editing Text
Learn how to handle missing fonts, plus Find/Change, spell-check options, Auto-correct and how to use Story Editor in your workflow.

Working with Color
Define and apply color, tint and gradient swatches.

A copy of the coursebook and the data files will be sent to you prior to the start of the class.
