Course Objectives
Flash designers with some ActionScript experience will find that the Advanced Adobe Flash Designer CS4 course provides the knowledge and hands-on practice required to build more flexible and dynamic design-based Flash pieces. This course focuses on teaching students more advanced ActionScript topics that removes their reliance on timeline-based visual tools. It also introduces them to other ActionScript code that will allow them to generate dynamic design and navigation elements that cannot be created without ActionScript. What you will learn includes:
Adobe Flash Level 2
The Syntax of ActionScript 3 can be a hard pill for a designer to swallow. This class is meant to ease that pain and even get you excited about the possibilities of designing with code. No previous code experience is necessary. Just come in with an open mind and be well rested.
ActionScript 3.0 Overview
All about how ActionScript 3 works with Flash to create interactivity.
Timelines and ActionScript
The most basic of events and actions involves controlling a timeline. It is a good place to start.
Events, Listeners and Functions
We take the mystery out of this often misunderstood relationship. It is actually pretty easy once you stop tripping over the code.
Animation with ActionScript
Creating flexible animations that can be quickly and easily edited.
ActionScript and External Files
Going beyond the bounds of the FLA file to incorporate external Code and SWF assets.
Components
Once you have some ActionScript under your belt, components suddenly become very powerful tools for quickly developing powerful interactive applications.
Preloaders
No Flash movie should be without one of these. This is a great opportunity to combine your design and coding skills into one very useful project.
Sound and Video control with ActionScript
Flash's powerful media engines make it the industry leader for handling audio and video files. We will show you why.
A copy of the coursebook and the data files will be sent to you prior to the start of the class.
